Leaven Hall dates from 15th century and is set within 15 acres of its own garden and pasture land. Although secluded it is easily accessible. The house is surrounded by a beautiful two acre garden which has featured in The Royal Horticultural Society magazine and teems with wildlife – deer, buzzards, owls and herons to name a few. Free range pigs are kept for organic bacon and sausages for breakfast, and chickens wander the garden providing wonderful eggs.
You will be greeted with tea and homemade cake if arriving at tea time. Coffee and tea making facilities are always available in the hall (dining area) and can be taken in the drawing-room which offers lovely views over the garden and large pond. In the summer and more clement months it is possible to take tea and breakfast on the terrace by the pond where is it very likely that damsel and dragonflies will be darting about over lilies and goldfish.
There are numerous places of interest to visit locally and Colchester is approximately 6 miles away and has a good train service to London. We look forward to welcoming you to our home.
(Please note that we only take one booking so that our guests have exclusive use of the west wing of the house offering three floors of sole occupancy and two bathrooms, one with bath and one with shower. A private seating area outside by the pond and a wonderful garden to wander through).
